Roger Calvert – Deputy Chairman
Roger spent most of his career teaching engineering in a university in the south of England. He is now retired and living with his wife Marguerite in the South Lakes. He has a lifetime experience of boats of many different types and has run his own steam boat ‘Senta’ for more than 40 years. He is a past chairman of the Steam Boat Association of Great Britain, and still involved in organising and participating in their activities. He has published several books relating directly to steam boats. He is particularly interested in the history of engineering and technology, and is active in a local U3A group in that field. In his spare time he maintains and modifies his boat and its plant and helps others with theirs. He and Marguerite enjoy walking and boating, children and grandchildren.
